How much is Wal-Mart really costing North Mesquite???

Across the country Wal-Mart has made a practice of taking over and changing communities… and not in a good way. Wal-Mart's goal is to drive out the neighboring competition and when Wal-Mart stands alone, prices go up, brands change and the quality of products is lowered!

When the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market, located at 915 N Town East Blvd, was completed and opened just a few years ago. It appeared that the prices and the quality of the products offered another convenient alternative shopping location. Many good brand names and quality meats and produce.

Let's skip forward to the present time and look at the variety of quality competition in North Mesquite.

Now that Albertsons has vacated North Mesquite, let's go back to the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market at 915 N Town East Blvd and do a little shopping:

Surprise, Surprise....

Oh my North Mesquite, we were sold a bill of goods with this one!! It appears the the public relations team at Wal-Mart surely know how to convince cities that they will help the community and bring in much needed revenue to the city. What they neglect to tell everyone is how they will bully out the quality grocery stores and then change their inventory to off brands and raise prices.

Let's face it. We do not have any good alternative for quality meats or products now in North Mesquite other then Krogers way out on Town East Blvd. and Motley. And that is exactly where we now go to shop!

Driving out the competition and driving down the standard of living is not good for North Mesquite. Wal-Mart is not good for our community. Please continue to support local businesses that conduct their business responsibly and support a meaningful standard of living in our community.

It's time to tell your city council that we are fed up with this style of business in North Mesquite and that they need to fine some alternatives to keep quality shopping in North Mesquite. One would have to be blind not to see all the quality stores that have left North Mesquite.

A very concerned resident of Mesquite.
