We don't have to have alcohol sales in Mesquite.
10/15/07 - Just because everyone else is doing it, does that mean you have to do it? We don't have to have alcohol sales in Mesquite. Hidden in these bill are the facts that there are NO regulations as to placement of the business selling alcohol they can be opened next to an elementary school if so chosen. Also in this bill is the ability to open sexually oriented business in Mesquite which we don't need or want this. Our city is a safe, clean place to raise children. Ever since Balch Springs started selling beer & wine you find broken beer bottles & empty cartons and you feel like a criminal going all the way to the back of the stores to find a soda. I love Mesquite & do not want alcohol or sexually explicit businesses in this city. We live here, we work here, we worship here & we do not worship the almighty alcohol/sexual business dollar.
